About

Gwerin.tech – our aim:

  • To promote confidence, skills and initiative in under-resourced settings of all kinds.
  • To be a collaborative platform for digital and traditional DIY community projects
  • To promote international skill-sharing
  • To rehumanize the digital world in everyday practical terms.
  • To imagine and create unique, anonymous maps, visualising only what we choose-to about our own communities
  • To create powerful evidence for better services, transparency and community justice.

[A note on OpenStreetMap:

As a ‘global network of local communities’, OpenStreetMap is used in community-organised mapping projects all over the world.  OpenStreetMap can make hyper-local neighbourhood data which is then seen and used in daily life. Because it’s built by the community, for the community, it emphasises local knowledge, needs and resources. We can all add (and delete) what we choose, using the language that we choose.]

[OpenStreetMap Community Mapping has helped visualise evidence for better services (buses, social facility access, local food, etc), emergencies (Ebola, COVID), and natural disasters (earthquakes, floods, hurricanes).]
